A lot of car drivers will own just one vehicle. After all, why would they need more than one car if they are the only people driving them? But for some folks, owning two cars makes more sense than owning just one.
Granted, some people might own a classic car as their second car, and use it on weekends and during their holidays. But, for others, owning two standard cars is quite a sensible idea.
Are you toying with the idea of buying a second car? If so, here are some reasons to help you convince yourself (or other people) why owning two cars is a brilliant idea!

You’ll always have a car available
Let’s say that your main car has to get repaired at your local car service centre. Let’s also suppose that they don’t provide loan cars. Or maybe they do, but they are only in manual, and you drive an automatic (or vice-versa).
Hiring a car can be quite expensive, and often inconvenient. Unless you hire a car from somewhere like Enterprise, you have to make your way to the rental office. And when you drop the hire car back, you will have to find a way to get home.
If you own a second car, you can use that car to go about your daily business whilst your daily driver gets repaired. You don’t have to worry or pay for expensive hire cars.
Family members will also have a car to use
This point will depend on how much you trust your family members to drive your cars! A spare car can be quite useful and practical as a pool vehicle for your family to use. Two or more family members might want to share the car, such as for shopping or going on road trips with friends.
They can pay towards the cost of keeping the car on the road, and you can be sure that they are driving a safe vehicle. It sounds like a win-win situation to me!
It’s a great idea for people that get bored
Are you one of those people that gets bored driving just one car? If so, buying a second car is a great idea!
According to the guys at Inchcape Lexus, many car owners have a second “fun” car sitting on their driveway. They take out their second cars for a drive when they fancy a change.
Some people might think that keeping two cars on the road is an expensive habit. But it’s doubtless cheaper than smoking or drinking on a regular basis!
It’s good for home security
Thieves will break into a house if they think no-one is at home. That is because they can take the time to steal items of value from your home without getting disturbed. If you have a second car, you can keep it in sight so that it looks like someone is always at home!
It’s a great idea to improve the security of your home, especially if you have to go away for a few days.
