We are spoiled for choice with the selection of vehicles available to us today. In both new and used markets, fantastic cars are available for very reasonable prices. The choice of car is often guided by the fuel consumption rather than the initial cost. That is how the balance has shifted in the market these days.
There are some models that stand out from the crowd in both value for money and fuel economy. They are what we refer to as reasonably priced cars for the purpose of this article.
So which is the most reasonably priced car around today? Let’s take a look.
Mini
The number one spot goes to the most popular car in the last fifty years, the Mini. All new models are available from www.coopermini.co.uk and many other places. The mini was always loved, but its popularity soared following the movie, The Italian Job. Of course the minis back then were a long way removed from the high tech models of today. They were, quite frankly, death traps that would never pass even the most basic safety requirements that today’s cars have to meet. The new Minis boast air bags, abs, power steering and an engine management system that keeps it purring along using very little fuel.
The Mini First is now available for under twelve thousand pounds.
Renault Megane Scenic
If you are looking for an economical way to transport a family, the Megane Scenic is the car for you. It has a large cabin space that can seat five adults in comfort. Legroom is generous for rear seat passengers and the high seating position allows for a clear view out of the windows. The 1.6 model boasts great performance and the automatic handbrake takes care of itself. There are used models around for a very low price, and a new mid range Dynamique model is available for below twenty thousand pounds.
Citroen C1
For those of you that like to look stylish when driving in towns and cities, the Citroen C1 may be your choice. It sits in a low insurance band and is extremely economical to run. It is a great second car to own also. Sometimes it feels a little bumpy so may not be ideal for touring, but the low purchase price of under ten thousand pounds coupled with the low fuel consumption still make the C1 an attractive choice.
Fiat 500
The latest Fiat 500 is available for under sixteen thousand pounds and is proving to be extremely popular for young lady drivers. It has several engine options, all of them very economical, and great looks. Boot space is limited in such a small car, and the ride can be a little hard. The Fiat 500 equals the C1 in every way, however, so it is hard to choose between them.
These models all have an excellent reputation for reliability, so look after them and they will serve you well. Service costs are average, and the fuel economy makes up for it. Whichever of these cars you choose, you will be delighted with it.
